My Mission

My mission is to nurture and strengthen the deep emotional bonds between parents, their young children, their culture, and their communities. I aim to provide support and guidance that empowers individuals to joyfully navigate the complexities of relationships in the face of life’s challenges. By addressing the intergenerational legacies of historical trauma rooted in slavery, my work seeks to disrupt its ongoing impact on families and communities, fostering healing, resilience, and meaningful connections.

Marva L. Lewis, PH.D, IMHM-E® Associate Professor at Tulane University, researching rituals and routines of hair combing interaction and impact of colorism on parent/infant attachment relationships. Provides national training and consultation on implicit bias, historical trauma of slavery and racial disparities in child serving systems.
